A leading insurer client of mine are in the process of scaling up their governance team and are recruiting for an AI Governance specialist to join the team on a permanent basis.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement frameworks to ensure responsible governance of AI systems throughout their entire lifecycle, from development through to deployment and ongoing monitoring.
  • Develop and maintain internal policies, procedures, and standards that align AI systems with ethical principles, legal obligations, and the organisation’s values.
  • Facilitate collaboration across departments including technical teams, legal, compliance, data protection officers, and external partners to support responsible AI development and utilisation.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments on AI projects, identifying potential ethical, legal, and reputational risks, and propose suitable mitigation strategies.
  • Lead or assist with internal audits and reviews of AI systems to verify compliance with governance standards such as fairness, accountability, transparency, and data protection.
  • Keep up to date with evolving regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and standards relating to AI governance, and translate these developments into practical guidance for the organisation.
  • Foster a culture of ethical AI use through training programmes, internal communications, and engagement with stakeholders.
  • Support the preparation of necessary documentation, impact assessments, and reports for regulatory authorities or third-party reviews.
  • Represent the organisation as an expert in AI governance within external forums, working groups, and industry collaborations where appropriate.
  • Monitor the performance and societal impact of AI systems in operation, ensuring they remain aligned with governance goals and stakeholder expectations.

 

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Comprehensive understanding of AI systems, machine learning concepts
