Job Opportunity: Lead Platform Engineer

Location: Hybrid in Durham (3 days on site)

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: Up to £80,000 + benefits

Lead Platform Engineer Key Responsibilities:

• Lead a Platform Engineering team, mentoring & managing skills.
• Define platform strategy, designing secure cloud solutions.
• Act as a cybersecurity & DevSecOps expert, advising on best practices.
• Drive CI/CD automation, optimizing deployment pipelines.
• Ensure engineering best practices (TDD, DRY, SOLID) for code quality.
• Evaluate & implement new technologies for security & scalability.
• Build PoCs for tech evaluations & research.
• Provide authentication security expertise for enterprise solutions.
• Offer out-of-hours support for critical deployments.

Lead Platform Engineer Key Skills Required:

• Leadership & Strategy – Team management, budgeting, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Cloud & DevOps – 5+ years in Azure, Kubernetes, and cloud security.
• Software Development – 3+ years in C#, .NET Core, .NET 8.
• IaC & Automation – Terraform, Bicep, PowerShell, Python, YAML.
• Security & Compliance – DevSecOps, Azure B2C, federated security.
• Systems & Networking – Azure ELZ, HCI Stack, Linux, containers.
• Agile & Best Practices – SOLID principles, Agile methodologies.
• Multi-Cloud Experience – Familiarity with AWS for business continuity.
